TBS is a specialty mental health service that supports clients to return to families from institutional care or to prevent the need for institutional care. It is a short term, intensive service aimed at maintaining long term success. We currently have programs in the following counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin and San Francisco.
TBS workers meet with clients in the home, school, and/or community using interventions based on the client’s abilities, interests, and strengths to address and manage behaviors. TBS coaches teach skills and replacement behaviors to develop alternative behaviors that are more adaptive and appropriate, such as developing communication skills, identifying triggers, and self soothing skills. TBS workers also meet with caregivers to transfer skills to sustain progress and help maintain the client’s long term success. Interventions could include creating structure, rewards and consequence systems, and identifying preventive measures. TBS workers collaborate with caregivers and other treatment team members, such as social workers, therapists, and teachers, to help ensure the best outcome for the client and family.
