On March 1, 2012, the Board of Directors of Seneca Center announced that Canyon Acres Children and Family Services will merge into Seneca Family of Agencies, a collaboration that will further champion the most vulnerable children and families in Orange County. This new partnership follows the merger of Seneca Center and Kinship Center in July 2011. The unifying of Seneca Center, Kinship Center and Canyon Acres is based on a shared mission and a 20-year history of working together to serve the community.
For 31 years, Canyon Acres has provided the highest level of care and therapeutic treatment to children in Southern California who suffer from a variety of emotional and psychological disorders. The programs of Canyon Acres will now be managed by Kinship Center, which has a comprehensive program presence in Southern California. Kinship Center builds and strengthens families for thousands of children each year through family-centered education, training, and tools for success in dealing with the complex issues surrounding adoption, foster care, and kinship (relative) care.
The formal partnership provides a statewide integrated service platform that enhances local delivery of programs and services to children and families. Seneca Center looks forward to new opportunities to offer the broadest scope of mental health and social services to children and families throughout California with extreme needs.
