Seneca Center Training Institute provides an array of free specialty trainings to anyone who works with court-dependent youth in Alameda, Contra Costa or Solano counties. Trainings are offered at large event venues, program sites or local education institutions. Trainings include:
National experts present on topics such as permanency, resiliency, child trauma, evidence based practices, and many more. All courses provide licensed clinicians with BBS units, while many courses also provide GHA units for certified administrators.
The Intensive Treatment Foster Care (ITFC) program offers trainings in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. The training brings together caregivers to increase understanding of foster youth’s experiences, expand strategies for providing care, and provide opportunities for care providers to learn from each other. Foster parents and group home employees are invited to attend the ITFC training series.
Residential Treatment Center/Group Home Staff training supports group homes in meeting Community Care Licensing requirements. We offer in-house staff training series that can be customized to meet individual program needs. In addition Seneca is an approved provider of the Group Home Administrator 40-Hour Initial Certification training, offering training that qualifies for GHA Continuing Education Units. Monthly GHA CEU seminars that meet CCL recertification requirements provide a venue to obtain the GHA units as well as network with other providers. Participants in these trainings will receive certificates verifying that they have received CEUs.
- Group Homes (Alameda, Contra Costa, and Solano County providers): Seneca trainers can come to your site and work with you to develop a training program suited to your agency’s specific needs. Group home staff will receive certificates verifying their completion of training hours. To learn more, please email training@senecacenter.org, or call (510) 317-1446, ext. 411.
CPR, First Aid and Bloodborne Pathogens trainings are held on some Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9:30 am – 4:00 pm. Course content covers infant, child and adult First Aid and CPR. Upon completion of the training, participants are given a CPR/First Aid card that is valid for two years.
Computer classes are offered to enable foster parents and providers to support youth in school and jobs, search for resources and communicate with other services. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint classes are offered to support this skill development.
